Getting a traditional ink style

Ink and I go way back.

I first experimented with an ink bottle and dip pen for a high school assignment, and these tools have been with me ever since. (And once literally on me - yes I spilled a whole bottle of ink on myself.) I think this unforgiving medium has so much to teach me about making the best with what you have and not chasing perfection at the expense of overworking a piece.

And so, for fun, I wanted to get the looks of traditional ink pens and washes in grease pencil. I made this 3D tree-wolf to test them out, but I still use them regularly.

You can get my ink brushes for free here!

My ink stamps are also available if you would like to support my work.
